Our Story
We are on a mission to help build happier and better balanced families.
Co-founders Amy Sage, MA, MS, NCC, and Roni Nocon, MA, LPCC, have been school counselors for over 20 years, supporting children and families. Over time, they witnessed a steady rise in anxiety, depression, self-harm, and low self-worth in children.
Recognizing that the greatest positive influence on a child’s well-being begins at home, they began designing simple, engaging ways to teach essential life skills like empathy, self-regulation, and confidence—skills that benefit the entire family. As parents first and counselors second, they developed a passion for creating practical, positive parenting tools to support their own families’ emotional growth.
Once they saw the potential to create impact beyond the classroom, they launched ParentingEQ and continue to provide families with meaningful strategies to strengthen emotional intelligence at home.
We know that every child learns in unique ways, so our curriculum incorporates multiple pathways for engagement.
-
Reading with children stimulates imagination and expands their understanding of the world. It builds language and listening skills, prepares them to understand the written word, and strengthens communication and social skills.
-
Play sparks joy and can trigger the release of endorphins, promoting well-being, reducing stress, and boosting creativity. Through play, children explore their environment, see the world from different perspectives, and develop problem-solving skills.
-
Practice paired with reflection helps children move beyond repetition. It encourages awareness of what they’ve learned, how it applies to their lives, and how to use it for their own growth. This intentional approach builds lasting skills.
-
We provide both internal tools, such as mindful breathing, positive thinking, or pausing before responding and external tools like yoga, calming activities, or sensory aids that help children access those internal skills. These strategies give children tangible ways to manage emotions and respond effectively in real life.
